Tapered roof insulation for use with torch applied waterproofing
Kingspan's tapered roof insulation systems offer a wide range of solutions that are suitable for most UK waterproofing types and eliminate the need for a structural fall. The lightweight boards are easy to handle compared to other commonly used insulants and fitted with a dry installation process. This can greatly reduce project timescales when compared with wet approaches such as screed to fall which can take months dry.
In refurbishment applications, they can typically be installed above the existing roof surface (with a waterproof membrane), avoiding the time–consuming process of stripping the existing roof.

How does it work?
- Initial pre-contract enquiry - discuss your requirements with our dedicated project team to understand project expectations and targets.
- Roof survey and inspection - carried out by Kingspan Insulation roof survey team to identify any existing performance issues, roof obstructions and positioning of rainwater outlets to ensure that any design will fall to those positions.
Alternatively, during the early stages of your construction, our team is ready to provide you with a full quotation for your tapered roofing scheme. All you have to do is send us your roof plan along with a specification requirement and we’ll do the rest.
- Tapered roof design and quote supplied - within 3 working days, incl. target U-values and Condensation Risk Analysis (CRA) upon request. NB: An existing roof can be overlaid with Thermataper and the designs will recommend the thickness of the insulation needed to overcome the issues of interstitial condensation.
- Tapered system manufactured - once designs are agreed between client and project team, the insulation boards are manufactured (minimising on-site wastage), and delivered to site along with supporting drawings for speed and ease of installation.
