The Operating Energy, Cost, and Carbon Benefits of Insulation - A White Paper

Kingspan Insulation commissioned GreenA Consultants to carry out energy modelling of a large four storey hospital located in Singapore with a GFA of approximately 30,000 m2 .
Two energy models of the same building, with differing levels of thermal insulation in the building envelope, were created in order to compare energy consumption over a 12-month period.
The insulated building requires 17.2% less energy per annum for cooling than the uninsulated building.
The insulated building requires 6.3% less energy in total per annum than the uninsulated building.
The annual CO2 emissions from the energy required for cooling for the insulated building are 152.1 T lower than that for the uninsulated building.
This is the equivalent of driving 380,030 US miles in a typical US passenger car.
Insulation can help to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions, and operating costs.
